Landing at Murcia airport which is located just south of San Javier on the edge of the clear blue waters of Mar Menor. This is a small airport with few facilities however the efficient and friendly airport staff will make your arrival to the region a pleasant one.
Once you go through passport control you are immediately into the main arrivals hall, which has a modest number of well signed baggage carrousels and the car hire desk.
Baggage trollies are free and normally available in plentiful supply.
You can get to the apartment from the airport by Taxi or a Hire Car, the journey will normally take around 10-15 minutes.
Taxis:
As you leave the arrivals hall and head outside the front of the building you will find the Taxi rank right out side the door with the drivers ready to help you load your bags.
Car Hire:
It is recommended to book your car hire before your holiday, you will find the rental companies desks at the far end of the arrivals hall. If you need to return to the rental desk after leaving the arrivals hall there is access from the other side.
Check the details of the terms and conditions of you car rental before you book as the cheapest hire price may not be the best value for money. Check the fuel policy: Some hire companies operate an “empty to empty” fuel policy where they will provide the car with very little fuel when you collect the car and expect you to return the car with little fuel. Others operate a “full to full” policy where you collect the car full and return it full. It is normal practice for hire companies to charge you to refuel the car if it is not full and you will pay more. Finally some hire companies operate a “full to empty” policy, which means you are charged for the fuel when you collect the car and can then bring it back empty. In this case you are charged for a full tank of fuel whether you use it or not.
Check the damage excess of your hire agreement, this can be anywhere from €500 to €1,500 depending on the hire company and the type of car you rent. You can take out additional insurance to cover you against this excess however this can cost you from €5 to €15 per day of your rental period depending on the hire company and type of car you rent.
